Gaydos, Robinson, Moon Township to Host Identity Theft/Shredding Event June 11
5/23/2022
HARRISBURG – As a free service to the community, Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) will partner with Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-Allegheny/Washington) and Moon Township to host an Identity Theft/Shredding Event on Saturday, June 11, from 9-11 a.m. at the Moon Area Middle School. The purpose of this event is to give residents of the 44th Legislative District a chance to safeguard themselves against identity theft by having their personal documents securely destroyed.

“As the founder and chair of the House Cybersecurity Caucus, I know that protecting personal informational online or in person is of the utmost importance,” said Gaydos. “By allowing residents free use of an industrial-sized shredding truck, they can be assured that old documents do not fall into the wrong hands.”

At the event, no more than two bags or boxes per household will be permitted, and no businesses, please. Examples of items to bring include bank and credit card statements, medical bills, tax documents, insurance claim forms and anything that lists a Social Security number. Binders, plastic folders or garbage will not be accepted. The documents received are securely shredded by a truck on-site and then taken to a local paper recycling plant to be treated and reused.

The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department will be there collecting unused medications for project Disposal of Unused/Expired Medications Properly (DUMP).

The Moon Area Middle School is located at 904 Beaver Grade Road, Coraopolis. For more information, contact Gaydos’ Moon Township district office at 412-262-3780.
