Gaydos Applauds $87 Million Grant for Mainspring Energy Facility in Allegheny County
HARRISBURG - Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) expressed her strong support today for Mainspring Energy's newly awarded $87 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. This grant, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law's Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling Grants Program, will facilitate the establishment of a state-of-the-art Linear Generator manufacturing facility in Allegheny County, creating more than 600 skilled jobs in clean power generation.
“It is inspiring to witness how our region is transforming into a hub for advanced manufacturing,” said Gaydos. “This facility not only signifies a substantial economic boost to our community, but it also reflects a commitment to being a leader in clean energy power generation.”
Linear generators represent an advanced new category of power generation and are designed to support utilities, data centers, microgrids, commercial and industrial use, and more.
“I want to extend my thanks to the Allegheny Conference and the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce for their work in fostering support for Mainspring,” said Gaydos.
The nearly 300,000-square-foot facility, set to be built near Pittsburgh International Airport, is expected to produce up to 1,000 Linear Generators annually, enough to meet the electricity needs of approximately 250,000 homes. This major investment, exceeding $175 million, aims to revitalize the local economy while leveraging the skilled workforce from the region.
“Having advocated for this initiative and supporting its importance to growing businesses in our region, I am excited to see the efforts of our business community come to fruition,” said Gaydos. “I look forward to the groundbreaking of this facility in 2025 and the positive impact it will have on our community.”
