Gaydos Sworn in to Serve 44th Legislative District

Lawmaker also appointed to four House of Representatives Committees
HARRISBURG – Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) today took the oath of office for her second term in the House of Representatives to advocate for the residents of the 44th Legislative District.

“I want to thank the great people of the 44th District for providing me with the honor to be their voice in Harrisburg during the last legislative session and now again for the upcoming 2021-2022 session,” said Gaydos. “During the next session, I am committed to continue working to increase transparency and accountability in government, which includes reducing the size of government, continuing much-needed support and reforms to help families overcome the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic, creating more family-sustaining jobs by reviving the economy, improving the climate for businesses. and focusing on mental health and wellness for all Pennsylvanians.

“In addition, I pledge to fight for reforms to set our state on sounder financial footing and ensure greater confidence in our elections.

“I am also committed to addressing tax and regulatory issues to revitalize one of Pennsylvania’s most important economic and employment engines, its people.”

Gaydos also announced that she has been appointed to serve on the House Commerce, Education, Health and Liquor Control committees for the 2021-22 Legislative Session.

“Committee work is one of my major responsibilities as a lawmaker,” said Gaydos. “Each of these committees addresses issues important to all of us. Before any bill comes to the House floor, it must be reviewed and refined at the committee level. This is where the real legwork is done in the legislative process.”

• The House Commerce Committee is responsible for originating legislation and overseeing implementation of programs which affect Pennsylvania companies.
• The House Education Committee works on state issues involving public and private schools encompassing pre-K through grade 12 basic education, as well as career and technical school and post-secondary education.
• The House Health Committee focuses on issues such as abortion, disease management, stem cell research, health savings accounts, hospital-acquired infections, Medical Assistance, patient safety pharmaceutical issues, telemedicine and much more.
• The House Liquor Control Committee is responsible for issues relating to the administration of alcoholic beverage licenses and the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages.

The 44th Legislative District includes portions of Allegheny County, including the townships of Aleppo, Crescent, Findlay, Moon, North Fayette and Ohio, and the boroughs of Bell Acres, Edgeworth, Glen Osborne, Glenfield, Haysville, Sewickley, Sewickley Heights and Sewickley Hills.
