HARRISBURG – Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) today announced nearly $1.9 million in state funding will be distributed to local municipalities and authorities in the 44th Legislative District. This funding, awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), will support a variety of critical community improvement projects, ranging from infrastructure upgrades and flood prevention to enhancing public safety and quality of life for residents.

“These grants provide a vital boost to our local communities, enabling them to make long-needed improvements that directly impact the quality of life for residents,” said Gaydos. “From enhancing infrastructure to addressing critical public safety concerns, these investments are key to ensuring our municipalities remain vibrant and resilient for years to come. I completely support the ongoing growth and development of our region.”

The local grants include:

• Bell Acres Borough - $16,150 for a municipal complex survey project. The project would include evaluation of up to two locations for a new building and up to two options for expansion and renovation of the existing building.
• Crescent Township - $233,333 for construction and engineering costs for the Main Street bridge repair project. The bridge is a vehicular and pedestrian bridge which includes a two-lane bridge with elevated sidewalks that is currently in a state of disrepair.
• Edgeworth Borough Municipal Authority - $50,450 for the purchase of a hydro-vac trailer. The project will purchase an all-in-one valve turning and hydro excavation vacuum system that will allow the authority personnel to more easily turn valves, as well as assist more in other projects of importance to the authority.
• Edgeworth Borough Municipal Authority - $136,900 for repairs to a reservoir wall. The exterior above grade, concrete and brick walls have deteriorated and need rehabilitation.
• Edgeworth Borough Municipal Authority - $30,894 for repairs to three pump stations located in Edgeworth Borough. The rubber roofs of the three current operating pump stations (Ambridge, Bell Acres, and Singer pump stations) have deteriorated where each station has taken on water damage, including metal siding deterioration.
• Leet Township Municipal Authority - $155,000 for sanitary sewer repairs. Residents living along Beech Street reported basement flooding due to sewer back up. A study found several items contributing to reduced flow capacity.
• Moon Township - $420,000 for the Moon Township Boggs Run Volunteer Fire Company Waterline Extension project. The project will connect to the existing water main and extend services to the fire station and three homes.
• Moon Township - $750,000 for the acquisition of property to support development of the Hirshinger Pedestrian and Pike Pathway and Conservation Corridor.
• Sewickley Borough - $75,000 to install an elevator at the former Old Sewickley Post Office building, now the Sewickley Valley Cultural Center. The grant will cover the cost for the installation of a three-level Schindler elevator.

CFA was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
