Gaydos Announces State Grants to Support Fire, EMS Services
February 13, 2026
MOON TOWNSHIP - Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) today announced fire and emergency response organizations throughout the 44th Legislative District have been awarded more than $191,000 in grants from the state.
“As a former emergency medical technician, I know firsthand the dedication it takes to respond to emergencies and save lives,” said Gaydos. “These state grants allow our local fire and EMS departments to invest in equipment, training and facility improvements, so they can continue serving our communities safely and effectively. Funding from this program supports public safety without burdening taxpayers.”
The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.
The following grants were awarded in the 44th District:
• Allegheny County Airport Authority Fire Rescue - $15,518.
• Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company - $13,869.
• Big Sewickley Creek Volunteer Fire Department - $12,839.
• Cochran Hose Company - $15,930.
• Crescent Township Volunteer Fire Department - $14,694.
• Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire Protective Association - $13,251.

• Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company - $16,137.
• North Fayette Township Volunteer Fire Department - $15,930.
• Oakdale Hose Company - $14,075.
• Quaker Valley Ambulance Authority - $15,000.
• Valley Ambulance Authority - $15,000.
Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, recruitment and retention, public education about fire safety, or reduction of existing debt.
All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with the office to receive their grants.
