August 14, 2026

HARRISBURG - Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) today announced school districts in the 44th Legislative District will be receiving a combined $699,456 in School Safety and Mental Health Grants through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee (PCCD).

The funding will help local schools strengthen physical security and provide behavioral health support for students and staff.

“Keeping our students safe and supporting their mental health must always be a priority,” said Gaydos. “These grants give our local school districts the resources they need to address safety concerns, strengthen security and support the well-being of students and staff. I’m pleased to see this funding coming directly back to our communities.”

The 44th District schools receiving funding are:

  • Moon Area School District – $276,692.
  • Quaker Valley School District – $175,545.
  • West Allegheny School District – $247,219.

The PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee administers programs designed to improve school safety and security, strengthen behavioral health supports, and provide training and technical assistance to schools across Pennsylvania.
