Gaydos: Grant Awarded for Parkway West Career and Technology Center

October 21, 2026

HARRISBURG - Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) announced Parkway West Career and Technology Center will receive $500,000 through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Career and Technical Education Grant (CTE) Program to develop a heavy highway construction inspector training program.

The funding will support specialized training to prepare students for careers in highway construction inspection, helping build the skilled workforce needed to maintain and improve Pennsylvania’s infrastructure.

“This CTE grant is an investment in our workforce and future,” said Gaydos. “Expanding career and technical education opportunities equips students with the skills needed to pursue in-demand careers while strengthening our regional workforce. This is a big step toward creating family-sustaining jobs and boosting our economy.”

The grant is part of the first round of PennDOT’s CTE Grant Program, which awarded nearly $12 million statewide to support workforce training and career pathways in the highway industry. Funding is provided through federal highway construction dollars authorized for workforce development under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

The Parkway West Career and Technology Center is located at 7101 Steubenville Pike, Oakdale.
